My Book on the Shelf at Local Library:

Finally! It took forever, from hearing the library ordered Down the Treacle Well until it was placed on the shelves.

Description:

While visiting a museum in England, Ben and Kyle experience the extraordinary. Gazing at the Alfred Jewel, an ancient Anglo-Saxon artifact, they watch as it spins, contorts, and evaporates from its case, taking them with it.

Whisked back to Victorian England, the brothers are shocked to find themselves sprawled on the floor before Mr. Charles Dodgson, also known as Lewis Carroll, the author of Alice in Wonderland.

They soon learn that the famous author’s muse, Alice, is missing. Alice has used the Alfred Jewel to enter Wonderland and, by so doing, has upset the time continuum. The only way for the boys to return home is to locate Alice and return her safely.

But Wonderland is a strange and dangerous place…

This is the dream right here! Nice work! Hopefully I’ll get to this point too.

  5. Even better than sightings at a library is seeing that it is checked out from the library and knowing it is in the hands of a reader.

    • Have to agree there! Sadly, still waiting…

      • I understand. My book is there to be catalogued for the shelves (since November), but it’s not there yet. Hope your book is taken out and soon.    ~Nan

      • Wow! That’s heartbreaking. At my library new purchases get tagged with the month of purchase and stay on the “new” bookshelf for a year. If the book isn’t taken out in a year, it’s tossed. The system is ruthless.

      • Our local library isn’t quite that ruthless. It stays on the new shelf section for six months before moving to the stacks. If no one checks it out within three years, then it is culled (“weeded” is what the staff is calling it now) and given to the local Friends group, who “sell” it (accept a donation for what the person is willing to give for it). Our library is pretty good for such a small city (population-wise), but it is part of a bigger library system that has at least 40+ branches so that I can get a book sent from one library if my particular branch doesn’t carry it. On the other hand, not seeing my book in the catalogue of all the branches doesn’t help anyone else find it, either.

Mine, however, is supposed to go on the Local Authors shelf, but so far, it hasn’t. Not sure why, and I can proudly say, it has been catalogued by the Library of Congress, which doesn’t always happen. I guess I should ask the staff member who does the cataloging for my local library.

Sorry, TMI! Good luck with your book.
